Welcome to my Mum and Baby Yoga Classes in Northwich

A lovely combination of postnatal yoga for mums & gentle baby yoga movements for baby.

Wednesday 1.30-2.30pm Cuddington & Sandiway Village Hall, CW8 2LB, Northwich, Cheshire

Most suitable from approx 10 weeks to approx 12 months postnatal*, following any kind of birth.

No yoga experience needed. Not suitable for crawling babies.

A warm, caring, and fun mum and baby class in Northwich for you and your little one to enjoy precious time together. Sessions offer a gentle pause from the whirl of daily life as a new parent, a safe, supportive environment to stretch, move, and reconnect with your body. Each class thoughtfully aids postnatal recovery – both physically and emotionally. Yoga for new mums requires no flexibility or previous yoga experience. It’s suitable for everyone and helps to realign and strengthen areas affected by pregnancy and birth, while building confidence and resilience through mindful movement, breathwork and relaxation.

Your baby is lovingly included throughout with simple Baby Yoga movements accompanied by songs and rhymes. Baby Yoga supports your baby’s physical and emotional development, can ease colic and digestive issues, supports sleep, encourages deeper communication, and enhances your bonding experience.  You will leave each class feeling calmer, nurtured and more in tune with yourself and your baby. Plus, it’s a chance to meet other parents, share the journey, and build your support community.

…and as a member of Pregnancy, Baby and You Cheshire I can also signpost you to other local professionals in many other areas of prenatal (and postnatal) support.

I look forward to meeting you and your baby/ies. Love Sarah xx

Twins are very welcome, you can bring another carer with you if you wish.  Classes are not just for mums - Dads, Grandparents and other carers are always welcome.

*(Babies are welcome from 6 weeks - please contact me for more information about younger babies or join my Baby Massage course first.)

It’s a great balance of mummy and baby exercises with a lovely relaxation to finish with. We learnt some great techniques, and I really benefited from some gentle stretches.

What is Mum and Baby Yoga?

PN_006.jpg

Yoga post pregnancy focuses on gently rebuilding strength and stability in the shoulders, back, core, and pelvic floor using Birthlight Yoga’s safe, effective postnatal yoga practices and micro-movements. Breathing and relaxation techniques help you re-balance and re-energise as you adjust to life with your new baby. There are no big yoga poses here. Classes progress gradually over the first six months, at your individual pace and needs, to avoid issues like joint instability, and further stress on the pelvis, core and pelvic floor, preparing you for a confident return to general exercise later on when your strength and alignment has returned.

You’ll also learn useful ways to support life with a baby, whether that’s different ways to hold and carry your baby, fun rhymes and movements where you can share a smile or laugh with your baby, movements to help digestion, or relaxation techniques you can use at any time for a bit of calmness in a busy day. All movements support your baby’s natural development.

My Postnatal Yoga Journey:

Mum and Baby Yoga Northwich

I had our  first baby in 2010 at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. As I had been practicing yoga for a number of years I found a local pregnancy class near me when I found out I was pregnant.  I learned about Mum and Baby Yoga from my Pregnancy teacher in Northwich.  It sounded like a fantastic way to ease my body back to yoga after giving birth and a fun way to spend time with my new baby.

I found my local mum and baby class,  and discovered the techniques of Birthlight Baby yoga.  They helped me feel more confident in my postnatal body, helped me to recover physically and mentally after pregnancy, and were a fun way to bond with my baby as well as meet other new mums.  When our second son arrived two years later I returned to the same pregnancy and postnatal classes in Northwich.

When I decided not to return to work, but instead train to teach yoga, it was Mum and Baby Yoga that I trained in first with Birthlight. Once I passed my course in 2013 I began to build up my classes and the rest is history!  Since then I have taught hundreds of mums and babies and passed on the wonderful skills and techniques that I found so useful.  I love to create spaces for friendships to blossom, and new parents to build their support network through my classes.

Loved the baby yoga class. It was great for both mum and baby. My little one really enjoyed it and really chilled out in class. It’s great as we’ve learnt several techniques that we now use at home too.

What happens in a Mum & Baby Class?

  • Centring, breath techniques to help you connect to your new postnatal body and soothe your mind and nervous system.

  • Movement and adapted yoga poses to support your postnatal recovery – listening to your own body you work in the way that suits you best – adaptations are always given and caesarean birth recovery is always accommodated safely, you don’t need to have done any yoga before.

  • Techniques to support core and pelvic floor recovery.

  • Mindful practices to help you to bond with your baby/ies

  • Relaxation to soothe your body, balance out sleep loss and help your baby to relax with you

  • Gentle movements for your baby to explore their body along their natural development stages, and enjoy loving touch from their parent.

  • Songs and rhymes to accompany techniques and movements for baby.  This is not only fun but helps language development and communication. It can also help postnatal recovery as singing helps you to lengthen your exhale and balance your nervous system.

  • Crying, nappy changing, feeding, cuddling and soothing all happen throughout class as needed.  We’re baby led and babies communicating loudly or quietly is encouraged!

  • I include information and discussion about skills and techniques for postnatal recovery beyond yoga and signpost you to places and professionals that can help you further, including team members of Pregnancy Baby and You Cheshire.

  • Time in a non-judgemental space to chat and share milestones and the joys and challenges of being a new parent. Helping to build your support community at this magical but demanding time.   Biscuits included for social time at the end of class 😊

Joe and I love Sarah’s classes, it’s our favourite Mum & Baby class. It’s so calm and relaxing and afterwards Joe has his longest sleep! Would definitely recommend.
